“I inquired about a listing for a potential investment and reached out to the listing agent, John Carr. Initially, I sent a text but did not receive a response. I followed up with a call, leaving a voicemail and another text, stating, "I am interested in your listing and would like to text or chat about the property." Several minutes later, John responded with, "When can I walk the property?" I found this response a bit abrupt, as we had not yet discussed any details about the listing. I replied that I could have someone from my team walk the property if I felt it was the right fit. His response was, "I gotcha, so not really a team at this point?" which came across as dismissive and condescending. I clarified, "I wouldn't have told you if there wasn't a team. Hey, I am just looking to buy property. If you're not interested in selling your listing—it's been on the market for over 100 days. Seems like you would be running to your phone when it rings, but instead, you're asking who is gonna walk the property? Sorry to bug/inconvenience you. Have a blessed day." Most agents would consider that the end of the conversation, but John then responded, "The only inconvenience would be if you were a wholesaler. Are you?" I felt this was an unnecessary and rude remark, as he did not know me or my intentions. I assured him that I am a real estate agent looking for an investment property and could have been his buyer. I chose to leave the conversation at that point. However, he then sent a picture of Captain America with the caption, "I guess we'll never know. Happy to write up a non-assignable contract for you when you finish assembling the Avengers." I found this highly unprofessional. To add to the situation, he later sent me screenshots of our conversation and stated, "This is going in my book of wholesalers." As a licensed real estate professional for over 10 years, I have never experienced this level of disrespect before even having the chance to discuss the property itself. I hope this feedback helps improve future interactions, as professionalism and respectful communication are crucial in real estate.”
