Folly Field

Developed in 1953 by Hilton Head Company, Folly Field was home to the first beach cottages on the island. Nestled between Palmetto Dunes and Port Royal, Folly Field is located mid-island and is convenient to the shopping, dining and entertainment venues of Shelter Cove. Villa complexes and more single-family houses line Folly Field Road all the way to the beach, where you begin to see larger homes typical of Hilton Head’s luxury reputation. Near the Folly Field Beach area, is the Islander’s Beach Park, which allows permit parking, and offers playgrounds, picnic areas, and a boardwalk to the beach. Hilton Head Beach and Tennis Resort is also located in Folly Field, as well as the still-under-development Sandcastles by the Sea community. You can also find fun places and activities for everyone in the family such as Adventure Cove, where there is miniature golf and an arcade!
