It’s quirky, and has been voted best seafood since 1998! Huc-a-Poos, a combination dive bar and pizza restaurant, the slices are as big as your head and only $4! It’s Awesome. The Tybean Art and Coffee Bar, where the baristas can craft just about anything and local art is always featured on the walls. With only local businesses making up majority of the island, Tybee feels as if it has evolved over time. Making it whimsical in all the right ways.
For those looking to become permanent residents in paradise. Tybee is located in Chatham County and home to the best schools in the area. Tybee Island Maritime Academy is #3 in the county, offering grades K-5. How fun is it to say your kids attend Islands High School? With over 1,100 students, a quarter of which are enrolled in AP courses, and an 86% graduation rate, this public school is one of the best in the county.
The one time it’s okay to discuss the weather is when we brag about it being beach weather 9 months out of the year. You’ll find yourself greeted with a wave of heat the majority of the time, so for our northern friends interested in migrating south, you’re in luck!
So now that we’ve clarified that the weather is literally perfect, let’s talk activities! Tybee Island offers kayak rentals, deep sea fishing charters, a lighthouse museum, and in October there is a Pirate Festival. Although the festival has been canceled this year, it is normally packed with live music, vendors, pirate performers, street performers, magicians, puppeteers, weaponry demonstrations, and live pirate demonstrations. Definitely something to look forward too!
